Alice and Marilyn was fantastics!
I wasn't sure what to expect when I went to the show. Usually, in these condensed headliner events, you don't get the full experience. But thankfully, that wasn't the case. Marilyn Manson, as expected, was good. I do feel that the last time I saw him, his show was more complete (again sharing the headlining position). His sound guys could've learned something from With A Vengeance's crew. Overall, though, I would say he was well worth it, and he was a 4 out of 5 in terms of the show. Alice, now that was intriguing. I thought many in the crowd left after Manson, and I thought that might happen. Hell, I wasn't even sure if we should stay. When Alice started, I thought it would be a rather calm show, and I didn't expect much. But I stayed because I wanted to hear "no more mr nice guy," which I knew was early in his setlist. As the show went on, I became more and more impressed. His band is truly amazing, and it was smart of him to have such a fantastic backup group. Musically, they outshined Manson. The sound engineers were excellent, and his choice of musicians really added to the performance. It was like a theatrical, musical rendition of his songs. Really fantastic. My wife, who wasn't around during his prime and only knew a few songs, became a fan. The next day, when someone asked her about the "Manson show," she said, "they were BOTH GREAT!" She praised With A Vengeance as well. So, my suggestion is to stick around and see the whole show, it was worth it. Alice brought out all his classic theatrics. Manson seemed somewhat constrained, but I would have paid the same for the same show without With A Vengeance, so no complaints. Besides the pricey beer, it was an outstanding night out that made me revisit my Manson collection AND my old With A Vengeance material. A great combination. Oh, and by the way, everyone who left after Manson missed the With A Vengeance/Manson duet encore of "Eighteen." Your loss!
